Vegas Local Twestival Fail

Posted on: Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 9:36pm - Comment

Las Vegas Twestival has been cancelled for technical reasons that have permeated every aspect of planning a successful Twestival.

While we may not have been able to achieve our vision of a successful Twestival, we encourage the Las Vegas Twittersphere to still come out to Caramel at Bellagio for a tweet-up Saturday night. Light Group has been very gracious to extend 2-for-1 drinks from 7 pm to 9pm for this occasion.

We also encourage you to give in the name of Twitter to Three Square. Three Square was chosen by you to be the beneficiary of our local Twestival and needs all the help it can get to achieve their mission. If you’d like to make a donation to this charity, please visit: www.threesquare.org

The Las Vegas Twestival planning committee would like to thank you for participating in our poll and your interest in giving. I’d also like to give a personal thank you to @ManyaS and Light Group for extending use of Caramel for Twestival and the tweet up as well as Three Square for their work as the beneficiary and the rest of the Twestival team.

If you’re interested in participating in the global Twestival in February, please send me a message @ModernLV.

THANK YOU Las Vegas!

Posted on: Friday, February 13, 2009 at 12:18pm - Comment

Thank you to everyone that supported Twestival either by attending or donating even though you couldn’t make it. The Las Vegas Twestival was definitely a success, and we hope a good time was had by all! More importantly, we contributed a significant amount for charity: water. We raised nearly $3000 and saw about 130 attendees. Way to go Vegas!

Here’s a round up of some of local press received over the past few days:
KLAS-TV Channel 8
KVBC News 3
Las Vegas Sun
KNPR’s State of Nevada
Imagine Peace (Yoko Ono’s website)
Las Vegas Sun (pre-event)
Las Vegas Weekly

If you have photos, please contribute to the Twestival Flickr Group Pool.

Photos from Las Vegas Twestival can also be found on NapkinNights and SpyOnVegas.

In case you were wondering and want to connect with us, the people that worked diligently to make Las Vegas Twestival happen in less than three weeks are: William Crozer (@modernlv), Manya Susoev (@manyas), Megan Lane (@megan_lane), Linda Lee (@linlee888) and Andrea Ruggles (@fjtoyota). Please feel free to contact any one of us at any time. Our gratitude goes out to every single one of you.

We also want to thank our hard working volunteers that checked everyone into the event: Nikki Williams (@ndachelle), Andrea Ruggles (@fjtoyota), Megan Lane (@megan_lanet), and Katie Tomline (@meankatie).

Another big shout out goes to Claire Haynes of The Light Group who made sure The Beatles REVOLUTION Lounge was prepped and running for Las Vegas Twestival, and to Alex Acuña of The Light Group for assisting with PR efforts and handling all press on site. Also to Jake Saady and Danika Huter of The Light Group who helped stuff and transport the gift bags when we where in a last minute jam!

And lastly, but definitely not least, we want to thank all of our WONDERFUL sponsors and donors who really made this event a smash hit! Thank you to The Light Group and The Beatles REVOLUTION Lounge for donating the event space, event staff, Tweetinis, and Jet Nightclub, Bare Pool Lounge, and Mist Bar and Lounge raffle prizes. Thank you to Linda Lee and Manya Susoev for donating the cheese, crackers and veggie platters to Las Vegas Twestival for our attendees to enjoy. Thank you to Up All Day Creative Solutions for the logo and all creative work tied to Las Vegas Twestival, and to Proforma GPS for the donation of the Las Vegas Twestival tee shirts. Thank you to Warren Whitlock for the donation of Twitter Revolution to all of our gift bags. Thank you to Dunkin’ Donuts for the $150 in gift cards donated as a raffle prize. Also thanks to Retro Bakery for the cupcake design raffle prize donation, to Allison Holman and Jacqueline Mason for the Liberty Tax (3035 E. Tropicana) tax preparation raffle prize. To Channel 8 Eyewitness News (KLAS-TV) and Dave Courvoisier for the donation of a tour of Channel 8 HQ to the raffle prize pool. To Precision Tune Auto Care of Las Vegas, Century Media, SpyOnVegasKO The Legend, SideCho Media, C-Level, Cirque du Soleil, Kevin Barry Fine Art Associates, VitaminWater, Smartwater, and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for all of their gift bag donations. And of course to modernLV and Imagine Marketing for aiding the organizing team. Also big thanks to MyVegasScene.com for hosting the after-party at JET Nightclub, and to Mike Balasko of Macro to Infinity for photographing the festivities.

Without the help of all the donors, the sponsors, the organizers, and of course the people that attended, Las Vegas Twestival would have never come together the way it did. Our sincerest, heartfelt thanks to everyone. We look forward to a future Twestival!

Frequently Asked Questions

Posted on: Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 5:37pm - Comment

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions. We will continue to update this as more questions are asked!

What is the cut off time for registrations?
We will be accepting advanced registrations until 12pm PST, Thursday February 12th. The day of Twestival.

Will there be registrations at the door?
Yes. We will be accepting walk ups, but will be accepting CASH ONLY. A credit card processing system is not available to us on site, so this is the only possible method.

How can I upgrade my ticket to Platinum donor?
Please email lvtwestival [at] gmail dot com and we will be happy to set it up for you. Must be completed by 12pm PST, Thursday February 12th. The day of Twestival.

Do I need to bring my e-ticket or will I pick up a ticket?
Event badges will be given when you check in. It’s always a good idea to bring your e-ticket as proof of purchase.

Will there be wifi?
Maybe. Unfortunately there is not a straight answer to this. REVOLUTION is located in close proximity to the convention area, so the signal can be received inside REVOLUTION. However, this signal is intermittent and we cannot guarantee that you will be able to connect when on site. If you are planning on bringing a laptop or similar device, please be aware that you will not be able to rely on this connection. We recommend using an aircard or cell phone instead.

What raffle prizes and gift bag items are available?
Please reference this page.

When will the raffle take place?
All raffle winners must be present to win and will be announced periodically starting at 8:30pm.

What drinks / food will be available?
Tweetinis are free for the duration of Twestival (courtesy of The Light Group), cash bar otherwise. Munchies will also be available during the beginning of the night (courtesy of Linda Lee and Manya Susoev), but please don’t rely on this for dinner! ;)

What is a Tweetini?
Trust us, it’s delicious.

Is there a dress code?
There will not be a dress code implemented during the Twestival event at REVOLUTION. If you are planning on attending the after-party at JET: no sports wear, flip-flops, sandals, or shorts allowed.

After-party? There’s an after-party?
MyVegasScene will be hosting an after-party for Twestival attendees at JET. All attendees are welcome with free admission to badge holders.

If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Thank You Beer and Blog Las Vegas!

Posted on: at 2:26pm - Comment

Last night we attended Beer and Blog Las Vegas to talk a bit about Twestival and share some important details concerning the Las Vegas event. The Las Vegas Twestival team wants to thank the entire Beer and Blog Las Vegas group for their tremendous and overwhelming support. An extra special thank you goes to Jackie (organizer of Beer and Blog Las Vegas) who put forth the vote to move Beer and Blog Las Vegas to Twestival at The Beatles REVOLUTION Lounge for the night of February 12th!

As mentioned at Beer and Blog, we are still in need of major sponsors to donate raffle prizes. If you have any connections you can send our way, please do!
